Later Life

As we age, our bodies often become stiff, achy and we may experience mobility issues. Chiropractic treatment can help you can maintain your wellbeing and mobility into later life. The treatments used by Steven are gentle yet effective.

Symptoms

If you have any of the following conditions, Steven may be able to help:

• Back, neck and shoulder pain
• Some migraines and headaches
• Sciatica
• Minor sports injuries

Chiropractic treatment is a process of fine-tuning the bones in your body to improve and correct skeletal alignment. This treatment helps your nervous system work more efficiently, therefore relieving pain and discomfort and increasing mobility.

First session

Your first session will last between 30 minutes and an hour and will give Steven a chance to understand you and the symptoms that you have. He will initially assess your wellbeing and ask a few questions about your symptoms and any issues that you have had past and present. Then you will be invited to have a physical assessment.  With your consent, Steven will make some gentle adjustments to the relevant areas using the McTimoney technique. If any issues are highlighted that Steven feels needs medical intervention he will refer you to your GP for further investigation.

Number of Sessions

Generally, most people find that between two and six sessions is sufficient when dealing with straightforward problems, but the number, and the frequency of the sessions, will depend heavily on the individuals’ needs and abilities i.e.:

Age
Extent of injury
Duration of injury
General Fitness
Stress
Posture
Steven will discuss with you the number of treatments that he feels is necessary before starting the process. Once you feel better, regular check-ups would be recommended.

Aftercare

Throughout your course you may experience some physical changes in your body as it realigns, this may cause tiredness, stiffness and sometimes light-headedness but these are all common reactions to the treatment. You will receive advice on the best after care and you may get suggestions of lifestyles changes that will aid your recovery. If at any point during or after treatment you are concerned about your well being, make sure that you contact Steven or your GP immediately.
